Opportunity

In recent years, it has been increasingly important for investors and assets owners to better understand – and report on – the carbon emissions financed by their investment portfolios. This institutional asset manager identified that, while public markets have developed advanced methodologies for assessing their financed emissions, private markets have lagged.

Solution

We determined that an opinion editorial (op-ed) would optimally showcase the client’s insights. After understanding their methodology for calculating the financed emissions of their private assets, it became clear that the differentiating factor between calculations of public and private financed emissions was the availability of data (or lack of it).

Montieth & Company then developed a detailed outline to demonstrate how the piece would contribute to the growing conversation on private credit and climate finance. We leveraged our corporate & financial communications PR expertise and targeted key publications that directly reach institutional investors and financial advisory audiences.

Once we secured interest from an editor, we worked with the client to develop the full op-ed. We provided guidance on tone and positioning to ensure it was engaging and informative.

Results

We secured publication of the op-ed in Pensions & Investments. This placement enabled the client to effectively reach key stakeholders, and we supported the promotion of the piece on the client’s owned channels to drive further engagement.

The op-ed demonstrated the institutional asset manager’s thought leadership in a highly technical area and delivered a key call to action to the industry.
