by M&Co. Staff

NEW YORK, NY, August 23, 2017—Montieth & Company has been named as a Platinum PR Awards Finalist by PR News as one of the top crisis communications firms. The specialist communications consultancy was acknowledged at the PR News awards for its work on the Panama Papers and the recovery of Nazi-looted art.

“We are very honored to be selected as a finalist for the Platinum PR Award in Crisis Communications,” says Montieth M. Illingworth, CEO and Global Managing Partner of Montieth & Company. “Montieth & Company has a substantive track record bringing attention to the issue of art looted by the Nazis. Our expertise in litigation, regulatory matters and financial services was central to our ability to leverage on the disclosures from the Panama Papers to help our client recover this important artwork.”

Montieth & Company provided media relations and litigation communications services for its client’s legal action to recover Amedeo Modigliani’s famed “Seated Man with a Cane, 1918,” which had been looted in 1944 by the Nazis from Oscar Stettiner, a Jewish art dealer living in Paris at the time. Following reporting on the Panama Papers by over 100 news organizations globally as part of a data-driven investigation led by the International Consortium of Journalists, Montieth & Company helped advance its client’s legal arguments and verify its ownership of the painting which is valued at over $30 million.

According to PR News, “The finalists of the Platinum and Agency Elite Awards represent the innovative, risk-taking and strategic communicators setting the benchmark of excellence in the communications arena.” The top crisis communications firms will be celebrated at an awards ceremony on September 14 at the Grand Hyatt in New York City.
