Montieth & Company Hired As PR Agency for Rice Acquisition Corp’s SPAC

by M&Co. Staff

April 22, 2021, New York, NY—Montieth & Company, a global communications consultancy, was selected as the PR agency by Rice Acquisition Corp. (NYSE: RICE), a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) focused on the energy transition, for media and investor relations for the announcement of Rice’s acquisition of two renewable natural gas (RNG) platforms, Archaea Energy and Aria Energy. The combined businesses are valued at $1.15 billion, and the transaction is expected to close in Q3 2021, after which the new company will trade on the NYSE as “Archaea Energy” under the ticker symbol $LFG.

Rice Acquisition Corp’s stock price increased by over 50% on the first day of trading following the announcement and has since sustained a price range between $13.74 and $17.30 per share. The energy transition company SPAC was also recently named by Julian Klymochko, founder and CEO of Accelerate Fintech and “SPAC King,” as the number one SPAC on his radar in an interview with Business Insider.

“We’re proud to be a part of what is arguably one of the most successful SPACs in the market, and that is attributed directly to Rice Acquisition Corp’s vision and leadership,” said Montieth Illingworth, CEO and Global Managing Partner at Montieth & Company. “Our multi-disciplinary corporate, financial, and marketing communications expertise gives us a 360-degree view on both the opportunities and the challenges that SPACs face in today’s market. That put us in a strong position to support Rice on all facets of this transaction.”

In coordination with Rice’s bankers and lawyers, Montieth & Company advised on Rice’s investor roadshow presentation, led the press release announcement strategy, coordinated with the web designers and developers on content and copy for the updated website, organized the pre-recorded investor presentation call and secured multiple top-tier features in the financial media following the announcement in Forbes and Bloomberg, as well as energy trade publications.

Becky Nye, Director of Financial Services at Montieth & Company, stated, “Core to a successful SPAC is the quality of the transaction itself. In this case, the SPAC was led by a team experienced in the energy transition space, and the companies acquired were proven and profitable with a clearly differentiated business model and proprietary technology. We commend Rice Acquisition Corp. on a highly successful transaction announcement, especially during a volatile period for SPACs, and are pleased to have supported them in clearly communicating what makes them unique to the media and market.”

Having completed the transaction announcement, Montieth & Company has been retained to advise Archaea Energy, the newly formed entity, on marketing communications, media relations, and investor relations as it navigates the public markets sphere. The global communications consultancy’s corporate and financial communications practice advises publicly listed companies on the NYSE, NASDAQ, TSXV, and LSE, and through its recent expansion in Hong Kong, will advise companies listed on the Nikkei and Hong Kong Stock Exchange as well. The solutions offered include investor communications and media relations on key financial events for public companies, including IPOs, acquisitions, executive hires, delistings, and both public and private capital raises in the debt and equity markets.
