A financial services company terminated an employee for cause. The employee sued for wrongful termination, then later for an employer defamation claim. An investigation uncovered the employee’s conspiracy to induce others to leave and to steal trade secrets, amongst other infractions of civil and criminal laws.


We provided strategic guidance and worked in concert with legal counsel to understand the facts around the terminated employee’s actions and behaviors. We brought in an investigations firm to gather key evidence and assisted with internal communications while we also took key steps to limit any media coverage until the matter was resolved, developing a crisis communication plan.


The facts and evidence gathered, and our ability to limit media coverage, enabled the client to prepare affirmative defenses and pleadings that led to a prompt resolution of the matter.
